Cost, timing, warranty, fire escape, cleaning. The things people actually ring us about, answered without the marketing gloss.
Every screen is made to the measured opening, so there is no honest flat price list. As a rough guide, a hinged front door is usually the largest single item, fixed window screens are the cheapest per opening, and whole of home packages come in well below the sum of the individual quotes. Your measure and quote is free and itemised per opening, so you can stage the work if you would rather do the front of the house first.
High tensile 304 structural stainless steel mesh, mechanically clamped into a powder coated aluminium frame with a continuous row of screws. The clamping is the part that matters: cheap screens hold the mesh with glue or a rubber wedge, and that edge is where they fail. Ask any company quoting you, including us, to show you a corner sample of how the mesh is held before you sign.
Typically two to four weeks from measure to installed, depending on how many openings you have and the colour you choose. We measure on site, confirm the drawings with you, manufacture to those measurements, then install. Standard powder coat colours run faster than custom ones.
Less than people expect. From inside, your eye focuses past the mesh and it largely disappears, much like a flyscreen, but stronger. The mesh does shade your glass, which cuts heat and glare in summer and helps protect floors and furniture from fading. In a Sydney summer that is a benefit rather than a cost.
Yes, and you should plan for it. We recommend fire escape window screens on bedroom windows. They hold the same security rating day to day and release from the inside in seconds without a key. We will flag which openings need them when we measure.
Every 613 Living screen carries a 10 year product warranty, and we warrant our installation workmanship on top of that. Keep the paperwork we hand over. Insurers occasionally ask for it, and some will adjust your premium once the house is screened.
We cover the Greater Sydney basin: Inner West, Eastern Suburbs, North Shore, Northern Beaches, the Hills, Western Sydney, the Shire, St George and out to the Blue Mountains and Macarthur. If you are just outside that, call us anyway; we often travel for whole of home jobs.
Hose them down every few months and give the frames a wipe with mild soapy water, more often if you are near the coast, where salt is the real enemy. Do not use solvents, abrasives or high pressure washers on the mesh. That is the entire maintenance schedule.
